Job Description

Retirement Unlimited, Inc. of Roanoke Virginia is on the search for an experience Director of Marketing and Community Relations for its new Community The Woodland Hills Independent Living, Assisted Living, and Memory Care in Roanoke, Virginia off of Ogden Road. The Director is responsible for building census through both marketing and sales activities such as cultivating a professional referral network, creating a strategic marketing plan to include advertising, direct mail and event initiatives, and assisting residents and families through the decision making process.


  • Responsible for the development and maintenance of the budget as it relates to the Strategic Marketing and Sales Plan including advertising, sponsorships, event planning, direct mail, public relations.
  • Accurately tracks and reports on all sales and census activity. 
  • Maintains an up-to-date and accurate sales database for all prospects, professionals, and responsible parties (families).
  • Works with the Executive Director in marketing and sales strategies both internal and external.
  • Responsible for the development and maintenance of a public relations media list with contact information.
  • Conducts tours of the community.
  • Responsible for professional networking initiatives to develop relationships with professionals and businesses.
  • Responsible for evaluating the effectiveness of all planned advertisements for RIO.
  • Responsible for submitting marketing strategies/plans and census reports to the Corporate Director of Marketing.

Job Requirements

  • Must possess sales ability.

  • Must be familiar with Windows operating systems, MS Office, email software and internet browsers.

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalency. (Minimum of 2 year college degree preferred.)

  • Must have two years of successful experience in sales and marketing.

  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written form. 

  •  Must be able to work flexible hours, nights, weekends and holidays as required.

  • Must have strong customer service skills.

  • Must be able to exert up to 25 lbs. of force occasionally to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise

    move objects.
