Job Description

Summary: Sweeps floors, washes work tables, washes pots, operates dish machine, segregates and removes trash, scrapes dirty dishes and operates disposal. Helps in tray preparation area and stocking shelves.
Reports to and is supervised by the Executive Chef and Dining Room Supervisor.

• Works in dishwashing area assigned, responsible for careful and sanitary handling of dishes, pans, equipment and food.

• Responsible for cleanliness of work area, adhering to established cleaning schedule for dishwashing machine and food service equipment.

• Responsible for complete operation of dish washing unit, reporting any needed repairs immediately, controls use of soap, temperature of wash and rinse water, discards and reports broken dishes and chipped glassware, scrapes dirty dishes and operates disposal.

• Washes pots and pans according to proper sanitation procedures.

• Measures and uses cleaning agents/chemicals as directed.

• Removes, empties and cleans refuse containers.

• Performs a variety of repetitive tasks such as sweeping and washing floors, keeping refrigerators and storerooms clean and neat.

• Stocks shelves.

• Assists with busing tables as required.

• Attends staff meetings and in-services as required.

• Performs other duties as assigned.


Job Requirements


• Must possess the ability to tolerate noise, extreme heat, wet and/or humid conditions.

• Must be able to work with mechanical and/or electrical equipment.

• Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time.

• Must be able to lift, bend, reach and pull.

• Must be able to exert up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally and exert up to 25 lbs. of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.

• Must be in assigned uniform during working hours.

• Must be willing and able to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays.
